The North Texas Performing Arts family and DFW theatre community lost a valued and talented actor, choreographer, instructor, director and friend with the unexpected passing of the very talented Tevin Cates.

This gifted young man poured his passion into his art and all those around him felt the power of his wonderful gifts. He will be remembered for the difference he made in the lives of his students, his audiences, his colleagues and friends.

Since the age of 7, Tevin has been a stage performer with credits at Walt Disney World and on some of the region's most prestigious stages in over 100 stage productions. He got his start at Theatre Arlington, and was currently in A Chorus Line at MainStage Irving - Las Colonas. He most recently graced the NTPA stage and will be remembered for his starring role as "Riff" in the NTPA Repertory Theatre's production of "West Side Story."

Tevin was also a gifted teacher, instructing students at the North Texas Performing Arts - Academy and in NTPA mainstage productions culminating in his role as choreographer for NTPA's largest single box-office success with Plano's "Newsies."

His final work as choreographer was a collaboration with Director Donovan Lawson producing "High School Musical, Jr." for North Texas Performing Arts - Plano.
