Improvisation - Consevatory

This course covers short-form and long-form improvisation. Students will learn how to make the best of any situation through the philosophy of improvisation by learning the rules, edits, and formats of long-form scenes. Students will gain confidence and experience through short-form improvisation games and activities throughout the semester. The study of improvisation gives an actor the ability to enjoy being on stage no matter the circumstances and uplift the performances of those around them at the same time. Students will learn the building blocks of improvisational formats as well as study nationally and internationally popular formats. Students will develop the ability to improvise a performance on the spot and learn how to apply improvisational principles anywhere in the world. The final project will include the students inventing their own format to be demonstrated to an audience.
